Our client design and manufacture precision forged and machined components and are currently recruiting for an experienced Chief Product and Process Engineer to join their team. As a Chief Product and Process Engineer you will play a key leadership role with cradle to grave ownership of development cycle from bid / win to design, development, qualification and manufacturing of components.

Hours of work will be 07.30 – 16.30 (Mon – Thurs) and 07.30 – 12.30 (Friday). Salary £50-£60k per annum, depending upon experience.
 

Reporting directly to the VP Product and Process Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Leading a multi-functional team to engineer a multi-million-pound engineering contract.
  • Leading/enabling a multi-functional team of designers, conformance, and quality engineers.
  • APQP/DFMA encompassing design, procurement, metrology, manufacturing engineering, materials, engineering, quality, and operations throughout the value stream.
  • Maintaining and improving performance metrics.
  • Developing robust and sustainable processes, implementing consistently.
  • Driving the New and Reintroduced products as required to internal, customer and national standards. (AS9100, AS9145, APQP, PPAP).
  • Supporting materials review boards.
  • Enabling support to SQDCP.
  • Problem solving resolution for customer concerns
  • Eradicating process variability and implementing systems to achieve CPK1.33.
  • Supporting a responsive ANDON system to operations stop, call, wait.
  • Continuous product and process improvement

 

To be successful in the role of a Chief Product and Process Engineer, you will possess the following skills and experience:

 

  • Engineering within metallurgical process (forging or casting) and educated to degree level (or equivalent) in mechanical, metallurgical or materials engineering.
  • Lean, green belt or black belt training is preferable.
  • Understanding of APQP / PPAP including tools such as FMEA, MSA, SPC and VSM.
  • Engineering to OEM specifications as background in qualification process to aerospace standards.
  • Experienced in managing in cross functional team including: (Design, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering).
  • Ability to influence change within an organisation and deliver results in a fast paced / dynamic environment.

 

This position is based near Redditch and is easily commutable from Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Alcester, Studley, South Birmingham, Solihull, Worcester, Kidderminster, and Stourbridge.
