Our client are a leading designer and manufacturer of high performance, high technology systems and are looking to an appoint an experienced and talented Design Engineer. As Design Engineer you will ultimately be responsible for ensuring the company has a range of high quality, technically innovative and commercially competitive products to offer the market, as well as ensuring customer’s requirements are met in terms of design and delivery on bespoke products.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
- Design and develop new products as well as bespoke products as required and to project manage through to completion
- Design and develop enhancements to the existing product range
- Source and procure materials for products whilst adhering to budget guidelines
- Provision of technical support for customers – At times, will involve site visits both nationally and internationally
- Production and maintenance of technical documentation as required, including CAD drawings, costing data, technical construction files, design calculations, bills of materials, technical specifications, marketing literature, test data etc.
- Constant interrogation of product design to identify and implement cost savings and performance improvement
To be successful in the role of Design Engineer, you may have previously worked as a CAD Engineer, Designer, Development Engineer or Lead Engineer and you will possess the following qualities:
- Minimum HNC / HND (or equivalent) in Engineering
- Computer literate with excellent working knowledge of CAD and SolidWorks is essential
- Able to work within a demanding and often pressured engineering environment
- Understanding of design and engineering manufacturing procedures
- Experienced in working with metals / fabrications
- Be quality oriented, have excellent communication skills and keen decision making skills
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are a prerequisite for this role
This position is based in Sheffield and is easily accessible from Rotherham, Barnsley, Chesterfield, Wakefield and Nottingham.
