Due to expansion, our client, a highly successful food manufacturer, currently have an exciting brand new position available for an experienced Group Health, Safety and Environmental Officer. As Group HSE Officer you will establish, implement and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems covered under processes to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health, Safety and the environment are adhered to throughout the company, including manufacturing, distribution and office premises.   

Salary circa £35,000 - £40,000 per annum dependent upon experience plus benefits package.   

Reporting directly to the Site Services & Facilities Manager, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Championing good EH&S practices and continual improvement throughout all areas of the business
  • Assisting, guiding and advising site personnel on safe working practices including operational, machine, chemical and equipment safety
  • Developing and maintaining systems and procedures for the effective management of environmental aspects and impacts and have contact as necessary with the Regulatory Authority in order to manage permit requirements
  • Developing and maintaining manageable and effective auditing programmes to ensure compliance with environmental and H&S systems and procedures
  • Liaising with EHS external auditing bodies for the purpose of verifying compliance to systems
  • Managing accident investigations and potential claims with company’s legal representatives
  • Overseeing the collection, monitoring and analysis of the company’s accident statistics and advising management where further investigation, assessment and or remedial action may be required    

 

To be successful in the role of Group HSE Officer you will possess the following qualities:

 

  • Proven track record of relevant industry experience is essential
  • Experience of auditing and managing quality and EHS systems
  • Demonstrable experience continually improving an effective Plan, DO, Check, Act system
  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety and NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management (Level 3) is essential
  • NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and / or NEBOSH Diploma in Environmental Management (Level 6) is desirable
  • Technician membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH) is required
  • Affiliate membership of IEMA would be advantageous

 

This opportunity will require travel between Worcester / Evesham sites (3 days per week) and London (2 days per week) with sporadic visits to premises in other parts of the United Kingdom. Ideally the successful candidate will be based in and around the Worcestershire area.
