Our client, a powerful and progressive global industrial business, are currently recruiting for an experienced Materials Supervisor to join their team. As Materials Supervisor you will ultimately be responsible for managing and completing the application of best in class processes for master production planning and material planning and procurement processes, in order to maintain 100% on time delivery commitment to customer orders, whilst managing inventory within targeted levels.

Competitive salary and benefits package on offer.

As Materials Supervisor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Create and maintain the Master production plan, utilising appropriate standardised scheduling methodologies such as repetitive scheduling, constraint based finite scheduling, and kanban scheduling, in order to maintain 100% OTD commitment to customer orders.
  • Own and maintain the Master production schedule (MPS) within the business ERP system (SAP), and supervise the running and output of MRP.
  • Issue production plans to production, including the raising of works orders, and work with Production supervision to ensure that they are rigorously followed and maintained.
  • Lead the application of the S&OP process from a Production Planning perspective - analysing, agreeing and reporting key forecast changes - and implementing into MPS and MRP.
  • Supervise order intake - either directly through reporting lines - or indirectly through oversight of others - in order to ensure that production and supply chain capacity are not exceeded with a view to maintaining OTD performance.
  • Supervise the Material Buyer/Planners in the completion of sound material planning processes including MRP scheduling, vendor schedule management, MRP parameter maintenance, and kanban management with a view to maintaining 100% material availability whilst minimising inventory exposure.
  • Supervise the Material Buyer/Planners in the application of the process of non-conforming product (goods returns/rework, scrap, etc), and actively liaise with suppliers regarding replacement/reworked material in order to maintain the production plan.
  • Supervise the achievement of Material Buy/Plan KPI's.
  • Act as a point of escalation, and escalate further when necessary, for material expediting and de-expediting requirements - drive a 'bias for action' mentality within the Planning team.
  • Where appropriate, supervise the Customer Service reps in the completion of Order Acceptance activities and in the communication with Customers regarding delivery performance issues and concerns.
  • Interface with Production Supervision to plan production labour availability, and ensure accurate production reporting within SAP.
  • Supervise the management of Supplier Delivery performance using KPI's and routine performance reviews with critical suppliers.
  • Actively utilise the business ERP system, SAP, to manage and communicate Production and Material scheduling and buying activities, including the use of standardised reporting.
  • Manage and report Inventory levels in line with business targets - driving improvement and reduction in inventory levels wherever appropriate.
  • Support the stock take process and perpetual inventory/cycle count process - oversee the effectiveness of these processes in order to maintain stock accuracy, which maintains stock availability.
  • Lead the Planning team and provide direction, motivation and leadership through the application of sound management practices including Performance Appraisals, Management reviews and where necessary Disciplinary action.
