An established manufacturer of bespoke parts, components and assemblies for various industry sectors including automotive, defence and medical are seeking to recruit a NPI Engineer. The company are enjoying strong growth and sales and as a result are seeking to strengthen their operations.

Reporting to the Commercial Director - the main purpose of the NPI Engineer role is to be responsible for management and delivery of all NPI projects on time and to budget - also ownership of any ongoing RFQ's from initial enquiry to nomination by the customer.

Key responsibilities and duties of the role would be;

  • Ensure project deliverables are identified from project outset and work with internal stakeholders to ensure they are delivered on time and to budget. Must be able to identify developing problem areas, root causes and impact on projects
  • Design and develop project schedules, being able to identify key milestones, decision points and project life cycle
  • Ownership of the following areas of the NPI procurement process, collaborating with the purchasing department, ensuring; suitable suppliers are identified for RFQ considering specific project requirements, terms, conditions and prices are negotiated for component/tooling to ensure project budgets are met.
  • Timing plans are received from suppliers and monitored to ensure project budgets are achieved
  • Work in conjunction with the manufacturing engineer to establish internal assembly costs and fixture
  • Collaborate to drive continuous improvement, ensuring completion of set tasks, produce deliverables and improve KPI's
  • Schedule meetings to drive project objectives, documenting and producing reports as required
  • Update commercial director on NPI project status and lead meetings to ensure communication to all relevant departments
  • Process and analyse weekly data, identifying issues and ensuring actions to improve
  • Manage NPI purchasing from start to finish, including RFQ's, supplier selection and sampling
  • Search, select and qualify new suppliers to support requirement for production, facilities and consumables

  • Proven experience of project delivery and strategic procurement
  • Some new product introduction / development experience
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing process
  • Able to read engineering drawings fluently
  • Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word & Powerpoint)
  • Problem solver and strong analytical skills
  • Competent understanding of company finances

 

The role is Days - 5 days a week (Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday 8am to 1pm)

The company are based in Redditch so are easily commutable from Birmingham, Solihull, Worcester, Droitwich, Dudley, Bromsgrove, Alcester, Stratford upon Avon, Studley, Henley in Arden.
