As a Payroll Specialist you will ultimately be responsible for ensuring that payroll is processed accurately, efficiently whilst complying with pension, governance, and legislative guidelines.

This position will be working 37 hours a week, Monday – Thursday (8:30am – 4:00pm) and Fridays (8:30am – 3:00pm). With a salary that is up to £38,000 Per Annum and competitive benefits on top. Please not that this role is initially for a 24 month fixed term contract.

Reporting directly to the HR Operations Manager, your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Responsible for end-to-end payroll processing for 700 employees, liaising with providers around pension, governance, and compliance, and be the main point of contact for payroll issues.
  • Maintain and manage overseas payroll.
  • Meet all financial, payroll and pension deadlines as required.
  • Develop current payroll processes and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative and statutory requirements relating to payroll and pensions.
  • Work with managers to educate and improve accuracy in relation to payroll tasks.
  • Provide timely reporting to inform the management team regarding payroll tasks.
  • Be involved in identifying and implementing continuous improvements strategies to improve efficiencies across the function, as well as taking on project work.
  • Be a super user for our HR.net people management system & Kronos time & attendance system and to be a key player in the implementation of new systems relating to payroll.

 

To be successful in the role as a Payroll Specialist you will possess the following qualities:

  • Experience in processing hourly and salaried payroll, including maintenance of payroll records.
  • Achievement of CIPP's Practitioner Certificate and or Advanced Certificate desirable.
  • Proven track record from within a start to finish payroll function.
  • Knowledgeable of current pension, governance, and compliance legislation.
  • Previous use of Kronos Workforce Ready system would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience of using ADP's Freedom Payroll and HR.net system would be beneficial.
  • Advanced level of competence in MS applications – Particularly Excel

 

This position is based in Birmingham and is easily commutable from Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, West Bromwich, Great Barr, Solihull, Redditch, and Bromsgrove.
