Swift Placements is recruiting on behalf of our third generation family business within the food industry, for a Quality Assurance Manager to join them on a full time permanent basis in their Preston Office. This is a real family run company with true values at the heart of everything they do.
The Role: As QA Manager, you will manage the quality function for site. The role involves effectively managing the quality system on site and taking responsibility for quality performance. Among other responsibilities, you will oversee a team of Quality Assurance Assistants and monitor their performance and training, ensuring that all products meet our intended standards.
This is a fully office based role Monday - Friday 8:00am - 17:00pm.
Key Duties:
- Maintain a working knowledge of BRCGS for Food standards as well as any changes in audit standards and industry legislation.
- Ensure that the Quality Management System (QMS) meets third-party and retail requirements.
- Conduct gap analysis to identify discrepancies between current practices and audit standards or legislation.
- Establish action plans to address gaps and ensure ongoing compliance of the QMS.
- Develop and update procedures to reflect customer codes of practice, industry legislation, and audit standard requirements.
- Ensure that all relevant documentation is in line with current standards and practices.
- Support the on-site trainer in effectively implementing updated company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Provide assistance and guidance to ensure that training materials align with quality standards.
- Oversee the quality of all products produced at the site.
- Implement measures to maintain and improve product quality, including process improvements and corrective actions.
- Attend HACCP Team meetings and contribute to discussions and decision-making.
- Review documentation related to HACCP and provide input for improvements and updates.
- Review trends in technical data according to business Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Support relevant teams with improvement plans and corrective actions based on data analysis.
- Identify and raise non-conformances as per established procedures.
- Take a lead role in all site audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up actions.
- Ensure that audit findings are addressed promptly and effectively.
- Act as a deputy for the Technical Manager in their absence.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Level 3 HACCP training and Level 3 Food Safety.
- Internal Auditing training.
- An understanding of food microbiology.
- An understanding of allergens and the management of allergens within food manufacturing.
- Ability to work with Excel in terms of trending and data capture.
- Experience of implementation and maintenance of a QMS to current BRC standards.
